Three time management tips

Whether you want more time to spend on your business or more time with your family and friends, you could probably spend another few hours each day. However, until someone discovers a way to live the eighth day of the week, the best way to get more time is to save it.

Saving time does not have to mean waking up earlier or continuing late. Considered one of the most powerful ways to save time is to create a layout and order. Follow these three steps to coordinate your tasks and your empty day. You may even find that you can sleep in sometimes!

Typical week, many business owners repeat the same work over and over again. When you create new documents for each customer or vendor, you spend tons of time. Instead, create templates for frequently used documents, by filling out the form, so that each client or vendor process is streamlined.

Another great time saving to invest in is standardone and online apps for organizing, monitoring, and managing communications within projects. You can provide access to team members, customers and even merchants. Some of these programs are Basecamp and Asana.

Card out your day

Way too many of us go through our days without any real structure other than any meetings that happen to get timed. This lack of order can lead to tons of wasted time because your attention is easily transferred from what is most important to what is in front of you.

Focus on important tasks by breaking the day into blocks of working time, lunch, meeting, and downtime. The key to success is to not allow them to bleed into one another.

Don't be misled

As your mom always said: When you're trying to get a job, turn off the TV. It doubles for your notifications, phone calls and social media. Email can be a particularly dangerous rabbit hole.

When you map your day, you can have plenty of time for this activity, but you can stand by their lure at other times. Once you have been accustomed to NOT answering emails every time it clicks, you will be much more focused and productive.

When in doubt: Farm It Out
