How to manage a workplace position in difficult times

In difficult economic conditions, many of us experience some kind of stress. For some, stress levels may be mild, and for others it may be more serious. The economic turmoil we face, such as increased unemployment, foreclosures, loss of investment and retirement, bankruptcies, etc. May cause many of us to experience tremendous stress. According to, Yahoo only announced that it is cutting 5% of its workforce and many employees are looking for new jobs. For those workers who survive these cuts, many people will experience uncertainties that can cause stressful workplaces.

Although research shows that some stress can be positive and help us perform better, excessive or prolonged stress can lead to many problems such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, diseases such as high blood pressure, headache, heart disease, wounds and even death in some cases.

The key to managing your stress is to know and learn how to deal with stressful situations. It is important to monitor how you feel and physical changes that can occur when we face stressful situations. If you do not understand your tolerance for stressful situations and manage this pressure, it can lead to many problems in your workplace and even possibly losing your job. Below are some tips that can help you control your stress at work.

Start Your Day Right
Starting the day in the right mind can greatly affect how the rest of the day will continue. For example, you might want to start in the morning with some relaxing or soothing music. Listening to music can be done at home before going to work or in your car or train on your way to work. The goal is to choose music that calms and puts you in a more relaxed state.

Another way to start your morning in the right direction is to focus. Emphasize your appreciation and what you want out of your life. Keeping a list of everything you're grateful for in your life and / or things you want to get out of life can help clear your mind about negative messages and start your day with positive comments. For some, there is a vision card that shows what we want out of life using pictures, so you can view it every morning. The purpose of this exercise is to put these lists, boards or even phrases (after comments) in areas where you will see them in the morning to help you focus on the day.

Going for a walk or meditating in the morning can also help to control your stress. Contacting nature can help to clear your head and be a great stress manager before starting the day of work. For those who want to meditate, the power of meditation can greatly influence the creation of a more stable, quieter mind.

Learn to Say No
Often times, many of us tend to commit to projects or other work-related tasks. Especially during a temporary economic era, we may be a little nervous not to be afraid to look bad or lose our jobs. But in the long term, success and management of our stress, it is important that we hold a realistic mindset and accept only projects that fit into our plans. Saying no and holding a detailed picture of our workload allows us to dedicate the time needed to complete the tasks we already have. Taking too much will create a challenging time crunch and sense of failure as we fail to complete these tasks. Saying "no" will not only provide us with a practical workload, but it will give us a sense of power or control of our lives. This sense of control can significantly reduce the stress we are experiencing.

When we have too much on our albums and realize that working more jobs, suffering anxiety and tension can develop so that we are constantly worried and more stressed. It's important to understand your workload and assign what you can to others to get the job done. For some of us, we have the feeling that we must do it all or we can look untrue or simply do not want to give up control over completing our work. While allowing other qualified people to work on projects, you can save this feeling of having to do it all on our own and create more control over our work environment.

Effective Communication
Learning how to interact with museums and managers can greatly affect your stress management. For example, when we fail to convey our feelings or certain messages, it tends to occur in us to create pressure or tension. If we let these emotions last for a long time, we could start working at a very high level that causes us to do or behave in a way that is ineffective. It is necessary to focus on our thoughts and feelings and be sure to convey these messages appropriately.

Break and Time From
While taking vacation or other days can not find "right" during difficult economic times, it is important to take all breaks and holidays we have right to manage our stress. Many of us need "mental health" days and by continuing to work every day without interruption, we must overwork and get tired. Remember to have lunch at this time in another environment outside of work. For some to practice or play sports for lunch, many of us can reload.

Disable Interference
Be sure to be focused on work and eliminate unnecessary interference. Email, the internet, the radio, and press releases can be inconvenient. Messages conveyed through these types of media during economic times like ours can always be negative and create a pessimistic attitude. Continuing to focus on the project and prevent unnecessary interference can greatly reduce stress.

Leave Work At Work
Abandoning "work at work" will help to create smooth transition when they work at home. It's so easy for many of us to come home with us, especially today and age today by email, BlackBerry, mobile phone, etc. But it's important to be in a different role at home to reduce stress. For some, simply changing your clothes when you walk first through the door will help this transition smooth. For others, be more aware that your working day is exhausted and consciously making a transition from work to home, allows you to enjoy your evening hopefully stress free!
